my female cockatiel and male parakeet have lived in the same cage for at least a year. they get along great! my female laid eggs this past week and I was wondering if the parakeet could have fertileized them. They act all lovie and he gets down on the floor of the cage with her when she sits on them. is it really not possible for them to interbreed? i'd like to know.

not possible at all- her eggs are infertile- she just laid them because of the presense of a male. Doesn't matter if they are mating or not.
How many eggs is she laying? constant egg laying really depletes calcium levels and you could end up with a very serious situation- an egg bound female that will die without a lot of veterinary assistance.

doubt they will be fertile. but wait a couple of days then candle them(get a small torch gpo to a dark room and put the torch to the egg and you will be able to see whats inside).just to make sure. and if you dont want to just throw them away just in case.

feed her LOTS of greens brocili ect so she doesnt get egg bound. you dont want her to die and the calium and **** in greens will help stop that.
its a big risk to her health. when you remove the eggs chaneg the cage aroudn toys feeders ect and move cage to different room to make the female less comftable so she doesnt lay any more eggs so you wont get the problem of her5 getting egg bound..
hope i helped

Please do no longer breed. Volunteer on the Humane Society and a no kill animal rescue earlier you go with to reproduce, you will see what proportion categories of animals finally end up there via fact of over inhabitants. lots of them will finally end up in laboratories having exams carried out on them. human beings deceive get lab animals for all time, bringing toddlers with them is likely considered one of the ploys I certainly have considered. I do animal rescue paintings and that's incredibly frightening what I certainly have considered. Please do no longer breed them....Please.
