Because they're crazy. He didn't die for me by the way, I mean what about all those other religions? They don't count?

Praying in front of an image of any sort is vain and stupid.
It is LIFE that was given at the death of Christ. If Christ would not have died for us there would be absolutely no other alternative except for all humanity to die a permanent death. One where there would be no resurrection to eternal life.
His death and torture was a GIFT to us. If we don't claim and embrace that gift we are doomed as there is no life eternally found anywhere else.

Well because we love blood gore and death. We want nothing but pain for all mankind. The fact that our god had to suffer just speaks to us because we realize that is what life is nothing but pain and we worship a god who realizes this.
Come one, is that what you really think that is what our religion is about. While the death may have not been beautiful the fact that God creator of heaven and earth humbled himself so that even the lowliest humans were better then he: and his death where he suffered under the people he came for. That is why we worship we worship the beauty of the love behind the death. That is what is beautiful.

We don't "worship" His agony.
Also, not all Christians have crosses with Jesus on them.
The cross represents the ultimate love of God for mankind.
The ultimate love that anyone can express is to give their life for another person. Think of those heros who gave their all... the firefighters and police during 9/11... our soldiers who have lost their lives serving our country in Afganistan and Iraq. We honor, not worship, these people for what they have done. It is the same with Jesus Christ.

The cross is foolishness to the Greeks and a stumbling block to the Jews.
Jesus died for you and for me, he died as our scape goat, he took my place so that I may take his, as a son and coheir with Christ.
His agony was real, because he suffered for all sins, we believe that he died was buried and rose from the grave on the third day. And now sits at the right of the Father in heaven, interceding on behalf of the saints.
He will come back to judge the quick and the dead, and every eye will behold him and they will wail because he has come back to judge and to rule. He will not come back as a babe but as the Living God, as the Judge of all men. He will come to destroy the armies of the evil one

basically as there is no genesis for God, there is none for devil, the two. God created all issues actual, yet in John 8, Christ shows that God is the father of all solid and devil the father of all evil. God is the source of solid and devil the source of Evil. devil would desire to no longer be a fallen angel as that's written that all and sundry fallen angels are sure for judgment. additionally, James tells us that we are tempted via devil and not via God. If devil replace into tempted, who tempted him? he's the source of Evil. God tells us in a million John 5 that there is no darkness in Him. So darkness, evil, would desire to come from the source, devil. do no longer characteristic to God what He won't be able to be.

Maybe it's easier to concentrate on his body suffering, and thinking that the physical pain he suffered was so we are all saved.Instead of concentrating on his message of peace, love and understanding, and thinking of the pain He must feel in his heart and soul, for people not getting that message instead, and them not working to make the world a better place.
