Why is it that?

Question

when I ask how could god send people to hell the response that I get is "god does'nt send people to hell, people send themselves there." Then I also hear that god will one day judge you. If he doesnt send you to hell then why does he bother to judge you? Does he say "hey you've been a bad boy but I can't send you to hell, you have to send yourself there." Can anyone clear this up for me?

To tell you the truth, this is one of the reasons I'm no longer Christian. You can phrase it however you like, but God created hell and judges you at the end. He gives you free will but if you choose wrongly, sends you to hell for eternity.

Now, I know this sort of thing works for some people, but it always bothered me. It all comes down to whether you believe God would or should or is morally obliged to punish anyone for eternity.

God loves us and does not judge, there is no hell as in the way others think but a dark place we think we belong in after we die because certian religions try to control us and we have so much fear that we cannot cross into the light of heaven due to these fears. So w go to a self created fearful negative place on the other side instead of the loving light we are suppose to go to.

Have you ever seen someone tortured? Hopefully not! Deliberate torture is sickening and abhorrent. What, though, of torture inflicted by God?Can you imagine such a thing? Yet this is exactly what is implied by the teaching of Hell an official doctrine of many religions.
Imagine for a moment,the following horrific scene:A person being roasted on a hot iron plate. In his agony he screams for mercy, but nobody listens. The torture goes on and on, hour by hour, day by daywithout any pause!Whatever chrime the victim may have committed, would not your heart go out to him? What of the one who ordered the torture? Nevertheless, many religions teach that God tortures sinners in endlesshellfire. This is claimed, is devine justice. If thatis true,who created that terrible place of eternal torment? And who is responsible for the excruciating agonies inflicted there? The answer would seem obvious. If such a place really exists, then God would have to be the creator of it, and he would be responsible for what happens there.
Can you accept that? The Bible says:"God is Love"(1John4:8)Would a God of love inflict torture that even humans with any measure of decency find revolting? Surely not! Still, many believe that the wicked will go to a fiery hell and be tormented for ever. Is this teaching logical? The human life span is limited to 70 or 80 years. Even if someone perpetrated Extreme wickedness for his entire lifetime, would everlasting torment be a just punishment? No it would be grossly unjust to torment a person forever for the limited number of sins that he can commit in a lifetime.
Who knows the truth about what happens after we die?

God doesn't send you to hell, you send yourself to hell = you have free will to chose how you conduct yourself. God judges you = He determines if your conduct is worthy of entrance into heaven. Pretty much, if you conduct yourself in a sinful way and don't repent God will not take forgiveness on you and will not allow you to enter into Heaven, which, equates Hell.

One theory is that hell is the absence of God and that those who are condemned to hell are those that have rejected God. C. S. Lewis once opined that "hell is the creature turned inward on itself," so hell is not so much a place with devils and pitchforks and lakes of fire, but the creature having chosen his will over God's.

God will judge our hearts, he will send many to purgatory (place to purify soul before entering heaven), length in purgatory depends on how their life was.

"For while you are going with your opponent to appear before the magistrate, on your way there make an effort to settle with him, so that he may not drag you before the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison."I say to you, you will not get out of there until you have paid the very last cent" Luke 12:58-58

Yes I can clear it up for you. God has made a provision for your sins to be forgiven. It is through faith in His son. If you reject Jesus Christ, you will go to hell.

When you are at judgment, I have no idea what God is going to say to you. There will be a judgment, since the bible says so. My guess is, it will be something very simple along the lines of, "why did you reject my Son"?
