becuase protestants sadly have no central authority, unlike the Roman Catholic Church which has been consistant throughout the world and the ages. THe evil one, wants there to be confusion within christianity, so people don't know what to believe, that is why there are over 60,000 denominations!

Excellent question?? If there is only one true religion and it is Christian, then why the conflict among Christian sects with each one claiming to be the enlightened one? After Henry VIII divorced Catherine of Aragon so that he could marry Anne Boleyn, establishing the Anglican Church as his excuse, and Martin Luther posted his theses, the Protestant Reformation was underway with numerous innovative "prophets" receiving the "Word of God" and collecting followers for their newly embraced concepts... It is presumably human nature that groups, tribes, and clans are always at odds with each other; throughout history religion has more often than not been the rationale for wars... Obviously, all the adversarial claims for Christianity, presumably based upon the same manifesto, can not be correct... Good luck, Christians, in selecting the truthful faith since your ascent into heaven is dependent upon your choosing correctly...

That's because not everyone who names the name "Christian" believes the same thing or practices the same things that the Apostles taught and did. Additionally, not everyone knows how to study and rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15), which just brings about more confusion when they try to interpret God's word into what they want it to say, unaware that you can't interpret something that's already been interpreted by God (2 Peter 1:20-21), because you'll only twist and turn the scriptures to your own destruction (2 Peter 3:16). As far as the Lord is concerned, there is one faith (Ephesians 4:4), not several. Jesus said, "Upon this rock, I will build my church (Matthew 16:18), not churches. Jesus also warned, "Not everyone that saith unto me 'Lord, Lord," shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 7:21-23)." If we are to all be truly one in Jesus Christ, we have to obey and follow the Doctrine of Christ, which was given to the Apostles to preach to all the world (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16). The Apostles even warned about others coming along and attempting to change the Gospel of Christ and what would be the consequences (Galatians 1:6-9).

All denominations came about when men decided that they didn't want to adhere to God and his commandments and, one day, they are all going to have to stand before him and receive condemnation because of it. Jesus prayed for us to be united (John 17:20-21). Paul pleaded for us to be united (1 Corinthians 1:10-13). Satan is the only one who encourages religious confusion, because it keeps everyone from obeying the truth and will cause more and more people to wind up in eternal torment with him. No one has to go that route, but choose to do so.

When the church was established on Pentecost (See Acts Chapter 2), all who came to Jesus did the exact same thing. All throughout the New Testament, everyone who obeyed Christ came to him by following the same thing. Why is it that that can't be done today?? If you haven't followed the way that was set up by Jesus through the Apostles, then you are considered still lost in your sins and Jesus will not recognize you or your religion, even though you "consider" yourself a "Christian."

Hopefully, this wll serve as a wake-up call for a lot of people. Time is too short for uncertainties. Make sure that what you're following can be backed up by the Bible and is acceptable to God.

It weeds out the wheat from the chaff.
People who read the Bible and have an actual relationship with Jesus can clearly see others who do the same. It is sort of a weird sixth sense. We simply know Jesus voice and respond.

Because spiritual belief is a very personal experience; everyone feels differently. These varying personal experiences lead to different interpretations of history, scripture and the teachings of Jesus Christ. These different interpretations result in different sects...all claiming a belief in Christ. The only way to find the answer is to kneel and ask--and know for oneself.

I'm guessing it's because the Bible makes no sense, and so when people try to interpret it, they get into disagreements about who is right or wrong (completely ignoring the fact that there is no way to be 100% positive of who is correct, mind you).
