Fasting.

All the Abrahamic religions do it.

Muslims fast for a month from dawn til dusk. It's called Ramadan.

Jews fast for 25 hours on Yom Kippur.

And Christians, well, they don't eat meat on Fridays for about a month, if they feel like it.

Fasting. I've done it....and it's not always for a full day. And some people fast for other amounts of time or give up things for a certain amount of time. Usually it is a sacrifice to give something up that we enjoy to give that time to God....like praying during that time..
