I have known him on a very causual freindship basis since May 2006. I know his mom because she is a patient a my facility that I work at. His wife died of cancer 6 years ago. He dates other women, but he only asks me to his house and strongly suggests sex, but not a commitment. He knows that I am safe.

Grow up, he wants you for sex and that's all. Forget him and find that particular one who will give you a commitment and not ask just for sex.

How does he know you are safe? Safe as in protection=or safe as in lifestyle?
Ok, we will hit on a few areas: Here is some reasons why he wants sex b4 commitment.
He is a player
He has no christian morals\
He doesn't respect you
How in the world do you know what he says to other women when he goes out with them? You are not there!
He could be asking the same thing of each of the women he goes out with.
It may be a test to see which one will do it.
Or which one won't do it-testing which one has morals.
The is an old saying that goes( why buy the cow when you can get the milk free) in other words why would he want to make a commitment to someone that won't hold out until they are commited>or married.
There are many reasons why . The important thing is don't do anything you don't feel right about. Or have to compromise your reputation for. Don't believe everything you are told. Good Luck!

He just wants sex. He doesn't want to get too wrapped up in the situation b/c he's been through a lot and either isn't interested in starting a relationship or isn't ready yet. You may just be his booty call and if you're okay w/that than don't expect too much, but if you're looking for something else get the heck outta there.

Perhaps it's because he does not want to be in a committed relationship. I am sure it really hurt when he lost his wife and maybe he does not want to risk being hurt again.

Because he just wants to satisfy his physical needs, he genuinely may like you but as you say his wife died and he may be scared of commitment now.
If you want commitment, don't do it.

Because alot of women have made it where men don't have to committ before scoring. Now women like you and I have to deal with the short end of the stick because we stick to our guns. Cut off all sex with him and let him know exactly what you want...COMMITMENT!

Well if you prefer a commitment out of him, don't do it. If you do you will never get anywhere with him except in bed.
