Don't worry. Its just talking itself to sleep and saying goodnight to any other birds or its 'friends' (toys in the cage). Beak grinding is also a sleepy bird habit. Both of these just mean that you bird is content and happy at its bedtime. Our bet budgie sleep talks in the middle of the night with mumbles and he's always a happy and investigative family member. Even if he does get in the way and is annoying sometimes.

I'd worry if it started squawking loudly in the night. Not only is it bad for your sleep, but something must have upset your bird to make it so vocal.

usually when a bird talks at night, they are literally just mumbling to themselves. A bird will go over new words or sounds before they go to sleep.
It is also possible that he is grinding his beak- as annoying and grating it is to your ears, it means that he is as happy as can be.

My Green Cheeks always would do it, and it sounded like they were having a "Good Night" conversation with each other. They eventually got to where they would say "night night" to each other before I covered them up at night.

Just them getting comfortable, mine does that too, she makes these cute squeaking and grunting noises! Nothing serious, just them settling in for bed!
