Even in everyday language we speak of two 'selves.' My self, for example, or self confidence. Basically there is one mechanism willing another mechanism to order. "I control myself" is a statement that illustrates this dual-self mentality otherwise known as self-consciousness. Conventionally, God is seen as good and Satan is seen as evil, and so if narcissism is a negative quality then it would fall more upon the Satanic vices rather than the Godly virtues. You're illustration of the biblical stories is a false interpretation of taking what is metaphor for what is literal. I have a feeling that you know not to take the bible literally but because you live in a world where some people do this you feel it is something that should be challenged. So yes, you are right in thinking that in terms of those 'stories' that God is a narcissist. But that doesn't really make sense, does it? We expect God to have good virtues like self-sacrifice and equal regard for all. So even though the average person may call into question God's personality or even existence, I hope that it is obvious to you right now that there does exist a commonly held notion that God should be good rather than evil. How this affects our lives is relatively simple: we have within us both the potential for good and evil, for narcissism and for self-sacrifice. So what religion attempts to teach us is the turning away (metaphorically) from Satan and the turning towards God. Now you might ask at this point when does metaphor turn into something real and literal, and the answer is when you comprehend the fundamental difference between goodness and evil. Religions notion of God and Satan is simply a personification to help people understand the two qualities of righteousness and its opposite of evil. It is a commonly held notion that goodness and evil are subjective and thus hard to discern. This is true. So the more you are able to distinguish between the two the more you can have a choice (read: free will) in choosing which polarity you wish to acrue in your daily life.
