a couple of days ago,I had some (delicious) MRE's and sucked up about 1200 calories,...But my friend said "Those werent REAL Mre's! They gave u the "National Guard" MRE's !They give those to the Logistics&Reserves soldiers to make them FEEL like theyre soldiers!"
So,...was he right? or he dont know what he's talkin about?

Max,

Those contractors whose obligation is to provide the Armed Forces with MRE's cannot sell Gov't Property marked MRE packs to the civilian population.

Now, nothing prevents them from marking those same packs for commercial sale. SOPAKCO, for example have been providing rations to the U.S. Military for decades, and they sell some of the best tasting MRE's to the public.

Does that make them 'fake'? Nope. Those kits have the same things that you might find in a Gov't Property marked MRE, and provide the same calorie count...some provide more.

Well, MRE's in any form generally speaking arent the best after eating enough of them. Actual MRE's come in a tan/greenish plastic bag thats supposed to have an 'easy open' top. Everything inside will be individually wrapped but should have the main meal, a side dish, a grain item & a dessert item.

If you didn't have one of these, you more than likely had one of the new meal packs they are trying out. The new types of meal come in a form of a clear plastic case with the same basic stuff but tastes considerably better (doesnt have the shelf life of the MRE's though...)

That should about cover it.

Actually, Omro - Some guard units are using different meal systems that are being called MRE's by some but are definately not actual MRE's in the true sense.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.
