At what age can I start giving my toddler (she's 18 months) regular, non-Gerber juice? I only give her 6oz. per day and it's watered down. She didn't have a BM today and I am thinking about getting some regular prune juice for her...or should I stick with Gerber prune juice?? Any help would be great as I am heading to the store to get some shortly.

Just look at the ingredients list. A lot of "adult" juice is 100% juice just like Gerber--but a LOT cheaper. Don't get anything with high fructose corn syrup. I think you'd be fine at this age switching to regular juice.

You're paying for the Gerber name... go ahead and get regular 100% apple juice. Water it down with equal parts.
Don't worry about her not having a BM today... my baby has never had a BM everyday. Prune juice certainly wouldn't hurt, but water it down even more. When my daughter was 5 months old I started giving her prune juice and my doctor said no more than 1 tablespoon per day (she probably weighed around 15 pounds)... so adjust that amount according to your daughter's weight.

I have stuck with getting Juice Juice my daughter loves it and it cost about the same as the Gerber but it's about 2-3 times more than the Gerber.

Gerber juice is a waste of money..just buy 100% fruit juice and water it down.
The only thing u have to worry about is not filling your baby up on juices.
And for no BM, try feeding more fruits and vegetables and whole wheat breads.

Just make sure it's 100% juice. The ones that say coctail usually says 20% juice or something like that which means lots of corn syrup. Then cut it by 1/4 to 1/2 water when you give it to her. One of the concentrated brands puts a yellow band on the top of the can so you can tell quickly if it's pure juice.

I never gave my children "baby" juice. Why? It is no different than buying regular juice and watering it down. It is just more expensive. If you feel more comfortable with Gerber juice, stick with it. If you want to save money, rest assured that it is the same thing.

My pediatrician told me to buy the concentrated juice and mix it up with 1 1/2 extra cans of water for my 16 mo old. Most of the concentrated juices are 100% juice whatever kind you buy, but a lot of the bottled say they are, but when you look at the ingredients, there's a bunch of junk in them.

I never tried the Gerber ones and went straight to regular juice...also as a heads up, apple juice is a laxative...I found that strange since apples are constipating...but oh well.

You can try it now, if she's having problems going to the bathroom. Generally, they don't need juice, but in this case, it's treating a symptom. The regular prune juice can be rather thick and viscous and a little gross - try watering it down 50/50.

If she's in pain from trying to go, pick up some glycerine suppositories when you're out too. They can stimulate her to go and smooth the way a little. If they're big, break off a chunk of the suppository and use it.

Wow, gerber loves people like you. You do NOT need to give your baby special baby juice. "adult" juice is just fine; water it down as you have been doing.
