at a class, leaving early is considered as an absent.
how stupid is that? i agree that students are responsible for the materials, but the teachers are still getting paid regardless if the student leaves class early or not. and i don't have all the time in the world to sit through straight 3 hours

Yeah, it is pretty stupid. Where I come from, absent means that you don't even show up for class. If you leave class, it's considered cutting. But in college, I can't stand going to seventeen hours of classes every week. It's just too much.

Hold on.. are you in Highschool or college. 3 straight hours sounds like college. AND YOUR PAYING FOR IT! my goodness, I can't afford to go to college, and you can't be bothered to sit through a class? I did one year on a student loan and I would get frustrated when the teachers would leave early. Thats time I paid for and I was having taken from me. I guess it would go both ways though.
And if your in highschool, its not about the teacher getting paid. Its about the fact that you are disruptive. If you have a three hour class in highschool - you are most likely not the only one with the problem. get other students and parents together and approach your school to try to get a change. 3 hours is too long.

Oh yes!! You are the entitled one aren't you? Why should you have to attend the full class in order to get credit? So what if you are not putting out the effort everyone else is? Sounds like you are not there for an education but to take up space and be handed your diploma as a token of the school's affection. Maybe you should take a reality pill.

It's your education, your future. You will regret leaving class early, but if you really think some of the time is used for nothing, talk to your teacher.

That is stupid. But then again, leaving while class is going on is quite disruptive and that you'll miss important material so they pretty much think that you leaving early equals absent.

If you think of it this way, it's like partipicating... and part of that is absents.
