The truth is revealed to those who love the truth. The Bible teaches that those who seek the truth do find him. Those who receive God receive his truth and his revealtion.

Knowing truth from lies is easy -- you probably do it dozens of times in your daily life without really thinking about it.
When somebody tells you something, and you don't know if it's true or not, you compare it to the "database" you have in your brain...does it fit well with what you already know? Is there any glaring, obvious signs that it's not true, such as conflicting with physical evidence, scientific fact, etc.? Is what they say plausible (meaning the likelihood of it being true is much greater than the likelihood of it being false)? Is there any way to independently confirm it or prove it false?

If someone walked up to you, and told you that an alien spaceship had just landed on the white house lawn, you'd go turn on CNN and see if it was true. If none of the news channels were carrying the story, there were no photos of it anywhere, and nobody else could confirm the story...you'd (rightly) assume what the person told you was false.

Many of us do the same thing with religion: when somebody tells me that there's a magical guy in the sky who created the universe 6,000 years ago, who promises to answer prayers but never does, whose "teachings" contradict themselves and established facts, I (rightly) conclude that it's a lie -- because it's not supported by the evidence.
A little rationality goes a long way...:)

You are designed to recognize it when you hear it or see it. The question is do you develop this skill or ignore it? Being an honest person and living an honest life helps sharpen your senses the same way working in any job makes you skilled based on your experience.

Ear training for musicians works the same way. If you've ever taken a music theory class at the college level, you've probably been exercised with major, minor, augmented and diminished chords and you've learned to recognize them just by hearing them.

I know truth when I hear it and it matches up perfectly with God's Word.
