We are having a 60th birthday party for my mother at a nice Greek restaurant in Saskatchewan, where the average meal cost is $15-$25. There will be 22 guests in attendance. I'm assuming that the meal cost after drinks and tax will be around $500. What is the appropriate amount for a gathering such as this? We have eaten here before and the service is usually very good. My dad is paying for it and tends to be cheap (would possibly leave only $20 or so) and I want to ensure we don't leave a bad impression! Thank you!

Believe me, I agree $20 is miserable too!!! I'm considering paying the tip to ensure it is adequate!

Irish Eyes - $2 an hour - are you serious?? Here our wait staff make at least $7.55 an hour (minimum wage) and due to the labor shortage, a waitressing job can net you up to $20 an hour. Granted there the cost of living is higher, but it's not as cheap in the States as it used to be either! Wow, that sucks!!

For sure a large party with good service at least 20% ($100) it is alot of work serving a large group and generally you will tie p several tables longer than a couple or smaller group would so that is basically cutting into the waitresses tips and as anyone who has ever waitressed knows you depend on tips because your reg. pay is like $2 hour.

You tip a percentage of the bill without tax. However, $20 is drastically miserly. That would be an appropriate tip for good service for a $100 meal.
Also, is there more than one server? They're going to have to split the tip. I'd leave at least $100.

Many times a restaurant will automatically add the tip to the bill for large gatherings. You should leave at least a 15% tip, if not, more if the wait staff were particularly good.

As a waiter for five years, I can tell you that the standard tip should always be at least 15%. Larger groups such as yours warrant 20%. If you recieve excellent and attentive service, It would be an insult to give anthing less.

Many restaurants in Saskatchewan have a flat service charge for large groups which will be automatically added to the bill at the end of the meal. You could ask if this is the policy of your chosen restaurant.

Leave 15% if the service was adequate. Consider plunking down 20% if the serice was exceptional. If you get a rude server or really poor service consider your father's $20.00 amount.

Normally a restaurant will add on an 18% gratuity for parties of 8 or more, and that takes care of it, it's on your bill. If they don't then 18-20% would be very generous and appreciated by the hard working staff.

I continuously tip togo because they do alot of work and the ought to regulate a lot extra human beings and food than a server does. the position I artwork, the togo human beings make an same hourly salary because the servers...that is $2.13. quite those who take call in orders and then deliver it out to our motor vehicle. those quite everyone seems doing a lot more effective than in basic terms taking your order over the phone and then handing it to you. The even ought to bag all the orders that could nicely be as a lot as ten luggage at a time. They ensure the steaks are proper cooked and interior the right bag, quite everyone has the right salads and apps that their meant to, be sure all the aspects are with the right entrees, and get you all of your condiments plus toppings and extra belongings you've gotten requested for. there's a particular type of stress placed on the takeaway orders because you should get it acceptable the first time. that's unlike eating contained in the position if there's a situation they could fix it immediately. If something is going incorrect and they ought to call and whinge and do not sense like getting back out, we ought to make that as a lot as them because it really is a huge inconvenience. The eating position finally ends up having to provide away extra money in the route of comps and present certificate for in basic terms that reason. So your carryout man or woman is less than a huge quantity of pressure to verify each little thing is suitable for each order they take. In an hour that could be as a lot as 30 human beings. As a server, we continuously remember the best ones and we do care about them. i flow out of my thanks to verify each little thing is suitable for human beings that continuously are variety and tip generously. They make my day that is significant after I surely ought to regulate as many grumpy, hungry, and annoying those who I do in an afternoon. usually, 10% on takeaway is standard. extra or a lot less reckoning on the service and how pleasant the guy became with you. that's an exceptionally annoying pastime with a huge value on interest to element over a extreme volume of shoppers. genuinely, they deserve a tip.

Usually if a party is over 13 people, the restaurant will automatically put a tip on the bill. "gratis" or something like that.
