Depending on your airlines, you can send it as unaccompanied baggage either by air or by ship. Please check with your airlines for their cargo #.

The other option is to have it sent by the GPO. If it's very important to have it immediately, ship it by speedpost - be warned that it is expensive but MUCH lower than the local couriers. you're looking at about 500rs/1kg or therabouts.. and it reaches your home in about 4-5 days. If not speed post, you can do by registered mail - a little cheaper..but it'll take about an extra 5 days or so. The last option at the GPO is sea mail..the cheapest.. For about 11kgs, I paid about 2000 Rs. Not bad..and it reached within 6 weeks here in United States!

Good luck.

Excess baggage is such a pain, but can't live without it especially from India :P

The best way to carry excess luggage is to Pay the Excess Luggage charge and get it loaded in the plane you are travelling.. the safest way to carry is to carry it with you.

Because Couriers are very expensive.
Or some people also wear 5 Layes of Clothes ..LOL as that weight is not counted.
