This is for an 8th grade enrichment class and I don't know what the military defense attorney's role is. Is the role the same as any defense attorney?

Is this a trick question? Am I so old that I can't understand the question? I asked myself, WHAT DOES A DEFENSE ATTORNEY DO. I was going to answer quickly and say THE DEFENSE ATTORNEY DEFENDS THE DEFENDANT. But then I re-read the question and tried to find the the TRICK in it.
