Maracoonda looked like it has closed down when I went past last Thursday. It depends on what you want it for, if its an overnight before flying out then any one of the relatively cheap motels on the Great Eastern Highway (road into town) would do and save you some part of the taxi fare. Otherwise check out the rates on places like the Holiday Inn in Perth City.
Feel free to email if you'd like me to check some rates.

Maracoonda Hotel, and any motel or motor inn on Great Eastern Hwy in Belmont really. Other suburbs closeby include Kewdale, Redcliffe, Rivervale and Ascot. The Great Eastern Hwy, is the main road that (almost) everyone uses to get the the airport.
Although, as other answered have also stated, the airport is pretty close to the city itself, and some of the motels in that area aren't nice to stay in, but they would be reasonably cheap.
If you have the money, I would look at staying at Burswood Resort Casino, they have just built a new 4 star Hotel and it is inbetween Perth City, and the airport. Mind you, any hotel in the city is also ideally placed (as Perth is pretty close to the airport anyway), so the Raddison, Duxton, Sheraton, Hyatt, Hilton, although my fave is the Chifley on Terrace (very nice). Perth City is pretty quiet on the weekends so you might have to travel to do anything. Northbridge, I would avoid, as that is where all the Pubs and Nightclubs are, and it's generally too noisy, and, lets put it this way, there are nicer places to stay.
Good Luck

As someone mentioned above Perth Airport is small and easily accessable to the City, so although it's possible to list a bunch of names like :
Assured Ascot Quays Apartment Hotel
Country Comfort Inter City
Bayswater Motel
Hotel Formule 1
.... you'll find more details on the web sites listed below.
You may also be able to save money and get a better deal by heading into the City. Many of the hotels offer transfers [ and other free extras on the websites ] so pick one that does.
You may also want to weigh up taking some last minute accommodation against booking in advance. There's some great website's below and also access to the government tourism info office via tourismrankings to assist you with any other questions you may have. Hope it helps.

There's only one little motel near the domestic terminal, and its pretty drab.
Fortunately, Perth ITSELF is *Very Close* to the airport, So just look for something in Perth, or Northbridge.

Your best bet is to google hotels in Belmont or Rivervale, these are close to the airport, you will be given possibly a free phone number to book on and also prices. Ignore the ones given to you at airport entrance, the closer they are to airport the more likely they are to be booked out, i have worked in tourism for 7 years and when ever i have tried to book people in they are full up. most close to the airport do free transfers
