It's called intuition. You shouldn't feel anxious when you think about the consequences of the decision. (if both decisions leave you feeling worried, and there is no other solution, do whichever feels better)
Try to envision yourself a year after making both decisions. Which "feels" better?
Try to think about the issue completely logically and then consider it completely emotionally. Talk to people who have made either decision and how they feel about it now.
Ultimately, you have to live with yourself. Do NOT make your decision based on how you think someone else might respond. or based on what someone else thinks (unless this decision is partially their responsibilty as well).

Life is full of decisions. Do I go to work today or do I stay home?? Do I fix supper tonight or let everyone go hungry? Just go with your gut instinct and "wing it". All of our decisions might not be the right decision but just try to make the best of that decision.
Also, the decisions that we make may feel wrong in the near future but ten years down the road we can look back and see that it was probably a very good decision.

I don't know if you will ever know ahead of time if you are making the right decision. It depends what kind of person you are. I have a hard time making decisions, so I always doubt my decisions. Even decisions that I wasn't so sure were the right ones ended up good. The only way is to look at pros and cons of each decision and how it would impact others. Weigh all information carefully.
Good luck

There's no such thing as the perfect parent, but 1 million ways to be a good one! You don't always know what the right decision is.....that's why sometimes you have to let them try and experience it to be sure.

Let your conscience be your guide.... Most of the time, we *know* what the RIGHT decision is--- although, it just may not the one we want so we choose it rather than what we know is right.

You could give us a small clue as to what you are talking about. Decision about life & death, to buy some gum to buy a car, to get life insurance. Even a small clue would be helpful.
