I am filling out the FAFSA and I am stuck about the section where they ask for my tax info.

I am currently 18 and just started a job 3 months ago, working part-time... I've earned a total of only about $1200.

Do I still have to file my taxes in order to fill out the FAFSA. I do however have my W-2, so is that enough...

Could someone please help me... I'm so confused!!!

They are going to ask for tax info for 2006... not 2007. Use your W2 info... are you filing independently? You might have to file your parent's info as well....

If you don't have your W2s from 2006, you can "guestimate" the amount of money you earned in 2006 that was reported... don't worry, FAFSA is going to check your social security earnings and will make the adjustment.

To answer your question, you do not have to file your taxes in order to file FAFSA. BUT.. you might as well... as a student, you qualify to receive all of your paid taxes.... free money.

You do not have to file taxes to do fafsa. You still have to answer how much money you make, just estimate, that is okay. Make sure to check the box that says not going to file.

your last years w-2 info is sufficient, if you have questions you may go to financial aid at the college for assistance
