My brother gets a cold this often. He is almost 13 years old. I have anxiety and OCD and it is VERY hard for me to deal with when he's sick. My mom refuses to take him to the doctor. Is it normal for him to catch things this often?

NO sounds like an allergy or he has no immunity. Have your mom watch the boy in the plastic bubble. One of John Travoltas great works.
If you have a pet he might be allergic to it.

he's either not getting over the initial cold or has a weak immune system. you can avoid colds by eating things high in vitamin c, and frequent hand washing is important but with ocd I'm sure you know that. sounds like mom might need to have you see a doctor for your anxiety and ocd as well.

No. He might be a hypocondreact (Over-reacts to a small pain, or a faker), or he has a allergy or a very bad sickness. GET HIM TO THE DOCTOR!!! If he is telling the truth, he should be dead by the end of the season, so either way, you won't have to deal with him much longer.

I would say that your brother has allergies. They can sometimes mimic colds with the runny nose, sore throat from draining sinuses, headaches because the sinuses are inflammed and irritated. Go and get some Claritin D or Alavert and see if that helps. If it does, he has allergies. Sorry that your mom won't deal with the problem. Why won't she? She should be taking care of your brother, that's her job as mom. Its in the handbook.

hahahaha! I was sick every two weeks when I was that age too, best way to get out of school!
But seriously, my sister is 21 and she gets sick every two weeks with a cold too. She works herself hard and doesn't eat right, or get enough sleep.

No, but it is winter and colds are around, plus some people are allergic to central heat and dust. It sure wouldn't hurt for him to see a doctor.

it is not normal. i get sick once a year or maybe once every 2. every 2 weeks is not good.

No. He may need to be reminded to wash his hands more often.
Perhaps his diet is lacking something. Does he eat right?

It's not normal. I had this problem myself until I had my tonsils removed. It could also be an allergy.
