If they win the 500 just like Jimmie Johnson was? It is almost the same scenario, times were dissallowed prior to the 500. Now if they win, are they cheaters, and only won because they cheated? Just like Jimmie was accused of.

I got it from NASCAR Live, and the Speed Report, one right after the other. Personally I dont think they should be since they will, or hopefully will be racing with legal cars, I also dont think Jimmie should have been labled as a cheater, since his car was legal for the 500, but Im just curious as to the overall thoughts.

I am interested in Mikey's situation too considering I am a Mikey fan, so I'm hoping nothings wrong.

I didn't add Mikey in the beginning, because the last I had heard of it when I wrote the question, was that he had oil in his intake manifold, and that was it, but obviously now I've heard more. And just so I don't get the response again, I know every driver cheats, every team cheats, and I don't have a problem with it, as long as it isn't too blatant, like Harvick's fuel cell was that one time. NASCAR is all about pushing the envelope, and I like it that way.

Nah, Johnson unfortunately has had more incidents than the other two combined.
It's not uncommon to see this, race teams do their best to give their cars an edge, and sometimes they might just accidently step over that fine line.
Where did you get this? Because Jayski says Mears, not Kahne. it may be wrong, or you heard it wrong, or whatever

Edit: here is link, looks like it might be pretty bad for the teams

Final Edit: Just because they are caught cheating once, people shouldn't label them as cheaters, and also, if they win, the car will be legal, it gets adjusted to comply with the rules before it can race.

Final Final Edit: ok, it seems like it is saying Kahne now, so you were right. And of course cheating is not tolerated, but you read what I said earlier.

I agree with what you said. So many Kahne fans I know where calling Jimmie a cheater, now what will they say? On the flip side, I defended Jimmie because he did have a legal car for the 500, so I guess I have to say the same for Kahne and Kenseth, as long as they're legal for the race, that's all that matters.

There were some illegal things with several cars. This was caught and did not make it to the starting ling for the 500.
They will be fined (or their team) and they will start last in their duel.
If they were to have won the race and this was found then by all means they should be but since it was in quailifing then let it be.
After reading more on the situation looks like there will be some suspentions upcoming. But it seems Mikey has bigger problems his car has been confiscated.
So we could have a few people with lables when the Daytona race is over.

Relative to Michael Waltrip.... True, his point’s deduction for the infraction was 2/3 of the most previous deduction for a similar infraction.... but the fine levied against his crew chief is the greatest in NASCAR history (even after you adjust for the rate of inflation). The suspensions, the points deductions, and the fine...when taken as a whole...was altogether fair.... IF NASCAR was to be consistent in punitive measures for infractions.... but they aren't.

As for Matt Kenseth.... Given the infraction, I believe his treatment was just and fair as well.

As was Kahne's (except that his crew chief should have been fined in the same manner as Kenseth's)

I'm not altogether sure how Sadler and Riggs play into all this, but according to NASCAR.com, they were also penalized (but the infraction was not mentioned.... and the tone of the article leads one to believe that this was related to Kenseth)

Jeff Gordon.... WTF is that.... an infraction similar to Kenseth...and he gets credit for a win at the duels.... and gets to start the Daytona 500 from next-to-last? No points shaved.... no fine... no suspensions? That blows!!! Just goes to show that the Technicolor fag can do what he damned well pleases. Penberton, ET. Al. are full of **** when they say that NASCAR doesn't play favorites!

As for Jimmie Johnson in 2006...Chad Kanaus is the most prolific cheater in the history of NASCAR and should have been banned from the sport for life after that crap at Daytona in Feb '06. Jimmie should have AT LEAST endured the same humiliation that Waltrip has endured this year. I doubt seriously that Jimmie could have pulled off the feat that Waltrip pulled off in the duels this year.

They won't be labeled as cheaters because Nascar will inspect their cars harshly the day of the 500. As for Waltrip, Nascar might not even let him race in the duels on Thursday. He had a major infraction and it could cost him big time. Not a good start for Toyota and Waltrip racing.

Ok, here we go fans. You can bet the whole shabang that every car on the tract, all 43 of them, will be illegal in some way. Thats the nature of the game...Catch me if you can....thats the mentality. ALL CARS will be illegal. Some will get caught some will not. Example, if the rear spioler is even 1/1000 of an inch off, thats not leagal. But, they won't catch them all and they don't want to. Only if it's really noticable, will they be fined and made to change things. Thats NASCAR.

They wont be labeled as cheaters, they'll just have to fix the problems and start in the back next sunday. I'm real interested to see what comes of Mikey's situation.

i can't believe kahne's crew would do something like this but of course there's pressure to do good, especially after a heck of year he had last year, but i really don't know what to say about it, yeah its wrong but sometimes its pressure that gets in the way of how we think and don't think reasonably. i'll admit last year i called johnson a cheater but now with this, i can honestly say i'm sorry for saying that cause i can understand why a race car driver would do this even though its wrong, and like waltrip, he has all this pressure with forming his new team and being an example to win would make someone cheat too.

i am a kahne fan and i did apologize for calling johnson a cheater!!! but kahne shouldn't be fired and neither should his crew. if that was the case then johnson should of been fired but since he's a hendrick driver, besides his crew cheif being suspended, nothing really happened. now since its kahne, they are going to basically rip him a new you know what, and with kenseth, he's going to get a slap on the wrist, i noticed something, nascar don't like kahne.

Well the way I look at it is, if you will cheat and TRY to NOT get caught qualifying, you will probably try the same thing to win the race. That's where the points are earned, not qualifying. Doesnt that make more sense? Probably jimmie cheated in the race also. Nothing against him personally! Thats racing!

I think if your caught cheating after a race or prior to the race starting the driver & team should be pulled from that race. If they continue to try and cheat like Chad (jimmy johnsons crew chief) they should be suspended indefinitely. People watch these guys and like any other sport idolize them. What are you teaching the younger people if it's allowed to happen? Cheating should not be toletated.
