Use a styling cream or sculpting lotion. Rub it in your palms first to whip it up, and then scoop up a little at a time on your finger pads and thumb and rub it into all of the ends of your hair. For the rest of your hair lightly brush the exposed outer layer with your open palm with a very light layer of the cream. It'll smooth it down nicely, make it soft, get rid of the frizz, and protect your ends. It'll also add a lot of shine and give it a healthy look.

Make sure that you start with a small amount and apply more if you need it because it can make your hair greasy if you use too much.

If you generally prefer a more spunky style that requires defying gravity rather than the sleek look, then with lots of lift then try a wax instead. Be especially careful to use a small amount at first.

I have never found that cost matters. Get something cheap that is labelled to suit your hair type. Bed head has quite a few fun things to choose from and they are relatively inexpensive for experimentation :)

Also, if your hair is really dry then try a leave in conditioner instead of a rinse-out one. I use a small drop of Neutrogena triple moisture leave in conditioner and it leaves my hair sooo soft and easy to brush through.

Shine serums and anti-frizz products are generally too oily for fly away hair - you can't use enough to control enough. I've tried so many kinds.

Trust me, my hair is super fine, dry, and naturally wavy and can get quite frizzy. Styling cream, wax, and leave in conditioner are all great :)

My hair was the same way. I started using a pomade. (like Bed Head Manipulator). The cheap ones seem to work as well as the expensive ones.
