The ability to really listen to what the client is saying and to design a cut that incorporates the clients desire and the clients hair.

- dont leave someone under the drier for too long.

- dont try to multitask and do another persons hair. inevitably if you are doing color or highlights youll neglect the person and their hair will take up too much color. you might think you can make more money by multitasking clients, but in the end youll offend a client. she may tip you then, but you could lose her business.

-just be nice. my favorite hairstylist was very kind and non-judgemental. im sure she had her views about life. but she just listened to me, which is what i really needed. of course, there was some discourse, but she was very nice and never insulted me basically.

i also dont like that some hairdressers aired offensive views. like one hairstylist started saying racist things about white people. that was pretty weird and uncomfortable. i really did not like sitting there listening to all that garbage when i was trying to relax. after i stepped out of there, my i had a very bad headache. i felt like i paid 150 dollars for a migraine.

-dont be comb the scalp roughly.

good luck.

Well first of all... you need to know how to cut hair.. go to hairdressing clinic or something. You also need to have good hand-eye corranation so you will clip the right hair and make it even. you have to be skilled with your hands and you need to know good hair products from the bad ones.... most hairdressers arnt very shy so they talk to the people and get along so people would wany yo use them more...

Thats all :)

Well, I'm not a hairdresser, but from the customer's point of view I would say someone who has decent conversation skills, but knows whether the customer wants to talk or not. Also, they listen to exactly what is asked for, and cut it the right length, style, and yet know when to offer suggestions for those fashion challenged. So good listener, creative, conversation skills, fashion conscious.
