Why in the world would any one even think that bi-polar disorder is a reason that some one should not be loved, can not have a normal life , bear children and function in a happy relationship and marriage. There a a lot of people that are bi-polar, are wonderful people, would never even know they are, if they had not said they were. Besides, just because one person in the family has it, does not mean the whole family does or anyone else in the family ever will. It is also treatable, and a person can and do live normal life's. Sort of like if one is a little over weight or has a limp, that they are not good to date or marry. I say, you go for it, you and that person are very much entitled to have a relationship and good life, give each other a chance.

They may be healthy now, but there are many factors involved with triggering a mental illness. It may not happen until a certain age, or a particular incident may not have occured yet. It's too big of a risk imo...too many unknowns.

i would date them. but try not to have children together. although it is possible that your children may come out just fine. and too, it also depends on what you mean by mental.
