I'd go with the Malbec. IMO short ribs call for a less sophisticated wine. The Pinot's too light. I have not tried the Fontanafredda but I love their Barolo. And I can't even find the Hermitage on the importers list for this Province.

With a hearty meal such as short ribs, I would go with the Malbec. I think the Pinot Noir would be overpowered by the ribs, and I leave the Italian reds to when I am having pasta dishes. Of course, I don't think you can go wrong with a 2001 vintage, so maybe the Hermitage could be a good choice.

Are you attempting to contain the beers as a praise to the dinner or basically some thing for the non-wine drinkers to drink? EDIT: properly, in my view i'd attempt to pair beer to the food so as that the most suitable adventure is more advantageous yet i imagine no less than you need to bypass for some thing good like Sam Adam's Boston Lager. you in trouble-free terms get married once actual? Sam Adam's is a lager that maximum pedestrian beer drinkers will be satisfied to drink considering they are no longer figuring out to purchase it, and maximum beer geeks would basically experience free they does no longer be compelled to drink Budweiser. i don't think of you want to have a spread of beers when you're not any further pairing them to the meal, "gentle" beer drinkers will live to inform the tale i'm particular. A keg will be your maximum ideal guess and that i in my view do not imagine that is tacky. IMO ingesting out of a can or bottle is more beneficial tacky than having a suitable pour served in a suitable glass. i imagine an 8 gallon keg will be more beneficial than sufficient. As for the wine, a million bottle in line with 2 people appears like a secure decision. perhaps tack on some more beneficial bottles for solid degree. that is troublesome to assert what number of persons will bypass for wine, and what number will bypass for beer yet like you suggested bottled wine that is not any longer drank would properly be kept for yet another day. i'm a pink guy myself with a lean in route of Cabernet over Merlot yet my distinctiveness is beer so i am going to go away the wine advice to someone more beneficial knowledgeable.

What the hey... Braised ribs have some fat and some spice. go with the Graillot Crozes. Syrah fits both bills.

The Crozes Hermitage would be my 1st choice followed by the Barbaresco. If you can't decide....drink both.
