I had negative reporting for a mortgage that went into foreclosure by mistake. It was corrected by the company but 10 months later. Is there still additional damage to be aware of?

Rocketgirl's response is exactly why I spend a lot of time here answering questions. Too many people do not understand the law or procedure in dealing with credit bureaus.

I can GUARANTEE that if you follow the procedure, any incorrect information on your credit report will be removed within two months. If not, I can GUARANTEE that you can sue them very easily for $1000 through small claims court. I've done it, and I've helped others also.

Just do your research.

In this case, do what was suggested. Go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com and get a copy of your history. If there is any incorrect info on it, report it. Read the Fair Credit Reporting Act and follow the procedures.

If a third party saw your credit report can they see a foreclosure? If it was erased from the report then a creditor will not see it because it was erased to the point that it never happened. It works similiar to a driving record. As an insurance agent, I see whats on your driving record if you have the court system take it away from the report, I don't see it, I don't surcharge you anything.

Send for a credit report to the 3 major companies. That way you can see if it is still on your credit. If you can prove the error, you can
MAKE them remove all derogatory remarks.
