Yes. It's always good to taper off any antidepressant because the drug is interacting with your brain chemistry. Considering that it's an SSRI, it's even more important because it's been working to inhibit the reuptake of serotonin back into your nerve cells (neurons). You could feel more side effects that you would had you tapened off. But for all I've read on the subject I haven't found that anyone has died from stopping it cold turkey. :o\

You should start taking the pills again, then call up the doctor and ask them what to do, and tell them WHY you want to stop. Your symptoms could come back worse than they ever were (that's why you hear the news reports about poeple who went off their meds!) These pills are a big deal! They are powerful stuff, shouldn't monkey around and ask people on here about what to do. If you have no insurance, it doesn't cost anything to call the doctor and ask what to do, and maybe they can get you some samples if cost is the issue.

Yes! Almost all SSRI's (i.e. Zoloft) require a taper to get off the drug with minimal to no side effects. Talk to your doc!

You really have to see a doctor before quitting any meds. Especially anti-depressants and anti-psychotics, as there is a risk of seizures, and other general unpleasantness, with an abrupt stop.
