is there such thing as a nurse of alternative medicine?

I'm not sure about a nurse of alternative medicine, but I know you can study to be a Naturopathic Doctor, Chiropractor, Master Herbalist, Oriental Medicine doctor or Nutritionist. There are more and more people going for CAM treatments, so more money is going there, which means more opportunities for employment....which excites health passionate individuals like me....

Anyways, I someday hope to attend a Naturopathic college, of which there are several good ones in the US including Bastyr University, Clayton College as well as a few other good ones...go to http://www.aanmc.org/ for more info on colleges etc....Hope this is helpful...I am hoping to find a career in alternative medicine soon too, and I think it might be a little difficult...ie...you may have to just make your position/career...hopefully there will be more positions available in the future...Good Luck.

Good luck finding a reputable school that offers something in alternative medicine. Why not go for a career that is based in science and can help people in a real way? Doesn't have to be a doctor. You can be a nurse, a paramedic, a physical therapist, a clinical psychologist, pharmacist, or a LICENSED dietician. Stay away from alternative medicine, it just doesn't work.

Many nurses choose to work in the so-called 'alternative medicine' field, but I do not know of any formal nursing accreditation or formal training for this.

Note: Alternative medicine practitioners often focus on treating the cause of the patient's symptoms, rather than just masking those symptoms with drugs or removing the damaged organ with surgery. Therefore, it actually may be more accurate to consider drugs and surgery as the real 'alternative medicine'.
