People who breed teacup yorkies breed mainly for size, so they are not at all healthy. They are prone to allergies, collapsing tracheas, luxating patellas, dental problems and many other things. Many are overpriced for what you get because they are so in demand, the breeders, usaually produce to many. Aren't normal yorkies small enough?

Read about Yorkshire terriers at www.dogbreedinfo.com

Then read about the health problems that are associated with breeding runts. That should answer all your questions.

You realize that a "teacup" Yorkie is a just Yorkie that was purposely bred small right? It's not a new breed or a "designer" dog as people like to call mutts these days.

There really is no "teacup" Yorkie. That is a sales gimic given to a Yorkie that has been bred smaller then breed standard or is the runt of the litter. It is a sales tactic used by irresponsible breeders.
Yorkies bred smaller then breed standard often have heart, kidney, liver and other problems.
It would be best to buy a Yorkie from a responsible breeder..one who breeds to the standard, health tests, etc.
