When one is christened the priest sprinkles water on the forehead. This is generally done as a baby. When one is baptized, the person get dunked under the water. This takes place at an older age.

I think christening is more sprinkling and for the baby while baptism can include that, but more often means emmersion for adults, below the water, maybe the water of life or into the spirit, into truth, into the spirit of truth and those who know say, a request for a new/clean life/conscience/mind or consciousness/awareness.

I believe Baptism is solely for religions who believe you do it to ensure entrace into Heaven, whereas Christening is kind of a gentler version.
