I had my cartilage on my ear pierced about 7 weeks ago at a sterile, clean place. I had it done with a gun and it never got infected. I clean it like im supposed to, and it isnt red or anything, but it still hurts and isnt getting better. I still cannot sleep or lean on that side of my head or touch my ear very much without it hurting. Is this normal for it to hurt this late after ive had it?

As long as there is no infection and you are keeping it clean dont worry. Dont fuss with it TOO much or else your only causing yourself pain. I've had four cartilidge piercings and yes its going to be sore/tender for a couple of months... give it another 3 or 4 weeks and if its still sore then ask the place that pierced it if theres anything else you should be doing. Theres something called bactine i think it is that will keep in clean and makes it less sore. You can find it at walmart by the peroxide and alcohol items. good luck and be careful!

I have my industrial done and there was soreness but i don't think it should still be hurting. Plus why are you cleaning a piercing with salt water? That's probably what's making it hurt. Get saline solutions and clean it with that. That what you should be using. But some peoples bodys do reject piercing because of whatever reason but try the saline solution and if that doesn't help in a couple of weeks then either see a doctor if your concerned about it or just take it out. But the piercing should be healed by now so I don't know what could cause the pain. Hope this helped :)

I had the same problem, but the pain was too much so I took it off. ( i had the piercing for like 2 years). I think it was too much because my hair kept getting caught on my earring and my clothes. Now I have a bump on my ear that looks like a pimple.

yes i have had my cartilage pierced several times, and it takes about a year for it to heal completely mine still hurts occasionally. since you got yours done with the gun did your ear get kinda mushy?
when i got mine done the first time with the gun it shatterd all the cartilage in my ear and it got kinda mushy, and it didnt get infected or anything.

I had mine done and kept my earing in for a year and a half and it still hurt until I finally removed it. Then the pain went away. I kinda wonder if I had a pinched nerve.

Mine was similar to that! I don't think it ever healed. Thankfully, it never was infected, just bothersome. I eventually took mine out because I grew tired of dealing with it. I would suggest you ask your doctor to take a look to ensure that no damage or infection has occurred.

If it's red and so painful still that you can't lay on it, it sounds like it is infected. You are going to need to go to the doctor a.s.a.p. to get a prescription for and antibiotic. Please don't wait as these infections can get pretty bad and painful if not treated. Good luck!
