I've been getting migraines for the past week nearly every afternoon. I usually never suffer from them, but lately it has been migraines that last from 2 to 6hours. What could possibly cause this?
I'm 17 yrs, 5'3 for 115 pounds... I've also had dizziness along with them, and they have gotten so bad to the point where I don't feel alert enough to drive.

I have freinds whose migraines were so acute, they were bedridden for two days. Have you had a change in diet. I know that certain foods can trigger migraines. What about your stress level... has it increased for any reason? School/ Boyfriend? Stress can reek havoc on a person. Your heighth/weighth is excellent. Are you on any medications that could trigger these migraines. Because they hppen every day at the same time, it seems to be related to your environment in some way. Do go online and read what other migraine suffereres have discovered.

No one truly knows what causes migraines, despite a considerable amount of research into the subject. I started getting migraines when I was about 30, but many women have them at a far younger age, such as yourself. One of the best things that my doctor prescribed for me was birth control pills! I already had a tubal ligation at that point, so I didn't need them for birth control, but putting me on birth control pills helped enormously. I was eventually placed on a regimen of 12 weeks of "active" pills and one week off, so that I only had four periods per year; you can do this with pretty much any type of pill where all the active pills contain exactly the same ingredients, or you can take a pill like Seasonale that has twelve weeks of active pills packaged together.

Imitrex is a medication for migraine headaches that also works well; check with your doctor about both of these options.

Suffering at the same time daily, you need to look at those surroundings to determine what may be the trigger. Flouresent lighting, accustical ceiling tiles (all those dots) etc...
Dizziness is a part of the symptoms, alomg with nausea etc.
Good luck
You may need to consult a doctor if they persist. My migraines migrated into petite mal seizures, left undiagnosed, Gran Mals.

a true migraine has blurred vision, hand numbness, vomiting and severe pain on one side of the head. it has nothing to do with age, i got my first one at 7, parents took me to the doctor for a brain scan, thought i may have a tumor. they are hereditary and usually skip a generation, but not always. talk to your relatives. they are also triggered by what you eat, in my case they came from aged cheese, anything containing red dye, and glare from sunlight and car headlights, those new halogen headlights are a real killer. mine sometimes lasted for 12 hours and followed by extreme weakness. they suck big time. my doctor would usually give me a pain killer to keep me asleep until it passed. after drink some papaya juice, it helps. in later years i found that a little tabassco sauce helps by constriting the blood vessels that cause the migraine in the first place. good luck.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Aside from the stress given by the migraines, are you under any other type of stress from things like school or picking a college or career? It might be related to your diet, your period, or just being overworked and not getting enough sleep or something.

Stress, hormones, eyestrain are you going through any of these ? You could try avoiding cheese, chocolate, coffee and lamb.
Your docs the one to ask.

Are you sexually active? If so, you could be pregnant. Or, if you've never been sexually active then it could be your period regulating itself.
