Should High School Students Have Part-Time Jobs(During the School Week)? Why should they or should they not? Please tell me your opinion more than just ''yes'' or ''no''. I am doing a school paper and this is a very controversial subject so I need some more opinions..Thank you..

The problem, as I see it, is that many high school kids do not have the maturity to budget their time very well. So when a paper or assignment is looming, they have to scramble to get it in on time. This is possible if they don't work, but the manager at work doesn't care if they have exams. All too often, the student goes to work and his grades end up suffering.

I think it would be very valuable to get real life experiences to use the skills learned in school. Of course there's some question if you learn skills in school except between classes. Random facts don't help as much as if the teachers taught you how to think, but they don't know, so that won't work. The excersize can actually improve your overall health, if you don't overdue it, and spead up your metabolism or increase your alertness/energy level toward learning quicker. Give you a change of pace from prison life. Give you experiences out of the box not canned. Develop observation and thinking/people skills. Real life info. And of course buy school things like study aids, movie tickets, gas. Oh, and keep you out of trouble maybe. You can always quit and works somewhere else in 4 month to experience more types on work situations and decide, hey, this has got to go too, and figure out a more interesting way to make a living. Ha. Three weeks might be good. Tell your folks your plan so they won't think your flighty and don't use that experience on a resume/application. Resumes don't work, by the way, face to face does. Get some spirituality in for inspiration. Variety,

I think it depends. I think having a job will instill a strong work ethic and allow for more experience to manage money. However, as a high school student, first and foremost, their responsibility is to get an education. If a student was failing in school or having other behavioral issues, those things should be addressed. A job will only distract them from resolving these issues.

Im 20 now and I've worked since I was 16, I loved working I knew how to manage my time and still kept on top of all my school work It teaches you responsibility, you learn the importance of money and hard work. When you see those cute jeans that you used to make mom buy for you for $100 you think about buying them yourself twice.... humm do I really want to spend 14 hours of work on a pair of jeans.... lol.. It teaches you a lot.

oh if i say something snazzy will i be quoted?
ok here goes
"whilst having a job may teach kids the basics of ecnomics, responisblity, and hard work, when combined with school, and possible extracurrical activities, the student has no time for entertainment, and social activities. The stress may get too immense, and not only will your grades suffer, but so will ur mental health, and social life"

Yes as long as they are not involved in other outside activities such as sports. Working 2-3 hrs after school should not be a problem. Involvement in sports or clubs will require just as much time as a job would. I would not encourage doing both.

If they feel they need the money and can handle a job and school, than they can if they want to. I don't think kids should feel or be pressured to get a job when they have school.

Yes, only if you want extra spending money. Do you think that your parents owe you a living.? Get use to the real life.
