What do you think would happen to Iran if they launched a missile at the U.S.?

How would the U.S. react?

Iran would cease to exist.

A) a monumental over-reaction "Bush Stylee", committing thousands of troops.

or

B) Everyone stays calm and laughs uproariously as the missile plops into the ocean several thousand miles short us the Continental United States (seeing as the iranians have no long range launch capability).

Hey,,what happened, where is Iran ? Wanst it Persia once ?? It isnt there anymore !!

I honestly believe our government would anhiliate them off the face of the earth ! They have been enemies for to long.

But that doesnt mean they would not just do a conventional war. Is DU conventional now ? Or is it really just Sarin gas that is poising those folks ??

I don't think they have the capability to reach the US, but if they did, it would be the worst possible mistake the Iranian government could ever make. They would face an occupation that would make Iraq look like a tea party. They force used to retaliate to such an attack would be terrible and out of proportion. The President would probably mobilize most of the military to take out the Iranians, and possibly use the nuclear arsenal.

well first the US Air Force would destroy the Missile since we have the most advanced radar network in the world and then Its sad to say but the Iran would be nothing but a big smokin crater after they attacked us, Bush is waiting to put his Stategic Air Command back into commision to bomb the crap out of somebody

Iran would cease to exist as a country if they tried. They would be vaporized before their missile ever hit the ground. Assuming we didn't take it out with our Missile Defense System

If the missile was of a small yield (.5 to 1 kt.) you would probably see air and missile strikes to show Iran what kind of Pandora's box they opened followed by U.N. sanctions. A megaton warhead and you would one maybe two multi-megaton missiles flying right back at them!

Well... depends on the missile, and what piece of the US's sovereignty...

IF they launched a ICBM (which they don't currently have)... we'd launch on them and the country that sold it to them !! (duck Russian or North Korea).

If the try a C-802 (Chinese Exocet) in the Straits of Hormuz... we'll respond in kind... a US Carrier IS 5 acres of sovereign US Territory !! I'd expect that we'd FLATTEN the Naval bases in Bandar Abas and Bushear :-?

personally i believe we have been in a downplayed war with iran ever since the first 5 iranians where captured in iraq

now its limited to they have the next step ... either step back or step up

they do not have anything capable of hitting the US homeland with enough of an accurate impact to do damage instead they would harm US intrests/troops in iraq and israel

but they have already been doing that
as i said we have been in a downplayed war with them its just media attention that keeps us from a full out war with them american citizens are being attacked but we cant fight back

that would be the excuse for the 170,000 soldiers in iraq plus another 400,000 to move into iran after airstrikes where over it would turn into another iraq of fighting the entire mideast with our hands tied as syria would be sending in the funds/weapons to aid millitants

it would be a bad day for everyone

The US would respond in kind. Those are the rules, ours will be already launched before yours ever touches down. We have the ability to abort a launch if we determine that your launch wasn't hostile. Ours will be, but with the descretion to abort if necessary!
