That sounds like okra :-) Many people eat it boiled or steamed. If you live in a warm area, it's VERY easy to grow, and tolerates hot, dry weather very well - one of the reasons that it became an important food in the southern U.S. It's a big ingredient in gumbo, and it's boiled in that case, but you can boil or steam it seperately as well.
Trivia - It's actually the seed pod of a type of hollyhock plant, and produces a pretty yellow flower with a red/maroon center which is fertilized to produce the pod.

Your talking about OKRA. And you don't wnat to boil it. Okra contains seeds and when cut can become slimey. The preferred way to serve Okra is rolled in a cornmeal mixture and fried in oil. They also put okra in gumbos and you can buy it frozen. It's an acquired taste, so you might want to go slow at first on it.

Do you mean okra? I like it best fried, but boiled is good. Many people won't eat it boiled, though, because it can get pretty slimy. I also like pickled okra a lot.

Okra or as it is known in India as Ladies Fingers. can be cooked in various ways.
Try slicing into rings and saute it in melted butter with the addition of a few spices, delicious.

I think you mean "okra". You can wash it, slice it and saute' it in butter and garlic. Serve it with fried chicken and corn bread. Very Southern. You can also serve it sliced in soup.
