I find it wonderful to have faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ....not only has He forgiven me and taken away sin and guilt and condemnation for sin, but he has given me GREAT joy and peace of mind just llike the Scriptures promise.
Thanks for the post; you seem to be one of the rare few that has intelligence on these threads.

To have faith that there is a God is one thing. That's called blind faith. This kind of faith won't help a person if they are seeking a better life now and in the future everlasting life ?
To have faith that God created humans and wants for them to listen to and obey or follow his requirements is another way. It's the only true way. That takes effort on our part. It requires of us study of his word. The reward for acting upon what we learn is the blessing that he puts before us.
If a person is satisfied with the life they now lead then they won't make that effort. But if a person is not satisfied with his life now then it would be wise on his part to investigate God's word in order to make the right decision. I know that in Noah's day people were happy with their life style but as Mathew 24:36-39 says
Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. 37Â For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38Â For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; 39Â and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be. There mistake was that they took no note!!!

Believeing in God and having Faith in God are different.
To simply KNOW there is a God and to actually PUT IT TO USE are very different.
To follow the ideals of certain religions or faiths BLINDLY is terrible.
But to test it, try to prove it, and make it logical is, in my belief, what God intended.
If you read the bible, '...[love the Lord our God with]...ALL THY MIND...' -Mark 12:29
It means THINK...

It IS a waste of time and it takes away the pressure to believe in yourself.
You will be a stronger person if you believe in yourself instead of God.
Take responsibility for your own life and for the world around you instead of leaving it all up to some guy in the sky with his Big Plan.
I think the world would be a better place if people stopped saying, "it's up to God," and started saying, "it's up to you and me."

If your faith causes you to be more in touch with the virtues and you are becoming spiritual as a result and not bloodthirsty, careless and prejudiced then what is the harm?

Have to believe in something or there is nothing. It it obvious there is a God all you see and hear did not just happen by mistake. However the bible is another subject it is written by man and is not total truth.
Do believe in you maker and give him thanks everyday for your life and what you have even if its very little give thanks for your health and youre great looks.

I believe in God, but there are zealots who misinterpret the Bible and commit horrors in the name of their "religion". Religion gets in the way of honoring God the way He was meant to be in the Pre Christian era.

No, it is not. People say that belief in God is illogical, but have they ever looked at the evidence for God?

No harm when it's personal but when you try to convince others, influence policy and law, use it to justify whatever you want to do...then it becomes a problem.

That depends what kind of God you believe in and what He/She/It tells you to do, of course.
