Because some people have there own opinions about monsters being present in our time. I'm sure many evolutionist will love the idea of there being a monster to help prove the theory.

I'd also go with fascination. A lot of people who have big imaginations want there to be something more. Something fantastic! It fuels their imagination and their brain.

Do your research! There are photos from an underwater camera (at least one if not more), which show plesiosaur-like flippers and part of a body. They were proven NOT to be fakes. DEAL WITH what you cannot understand! Why do people believe in a "god" for which there is NO physical evidence (not even "blurry pictures"), yet discount the SLIGHTEST flaw in physical evidence for evolution and possible alien life???!

It's called FEAR!!!

Everyone and his brother now a days has a digital camera, a video camera and or a cell phone with a camera. And we can't get a decent picture of an apparently air breathing neo dinosaur in an enclosed area? That's why I'm skeptical about Nessie.

Usually, the people most guilty of professing their beliefs in such mythical creatures are merely promoting its existence in order to make a quick buck on merchandise. And who can blame them. If you believe in something strong enough (or pretend to) then you have the power to lead. There will always be those gullible enough to follow, no matter how ridiculous the premise.

Because it's fun and serious questions really just get in the way.

For example, where is Nessy's family? Or is she just going to live forever so we can get more blurry photos?

Seriously, we can study whales in the open oceans, surely we can hunt down a big pleisiosaur in a tiny little lake.

Just a thought but...

could it not be possible that a dinosaur, who, if you remember, one "ruled the world" much as humans today, could have developed such an intelligence that it has thought it wise to no longer continue to let itself be seen by greedy, commercializing, violent humans.

I don't think people believe in it as much as they WANT to believe...it's more fun if a lake has a monster in it that if its a hole filled with water
