I have noticed a lot of people asking why people are insulting. But i would venture to ask why do you take it so personally? People have a lot of different views. I think if you ask a question you should be open to the same views, different views, and the occasional drive-by insult. After all its a place for you to see all manners of thought so you can think out your own stuff. Am I right here?

You may be right, but people come from so many different points of view and with so many different mental, physical, and spiritual states that it's difficult to convince many people of something even so simple as this.

Not to mention the fact that there are people on Y! Answers who are out to fulfill a particular goal or agenda. Some are here merely to spread confusion; others are bored out of their minds and want to occupy themselves by spouting answers, comments, and questions without any apparent logic to their methods.

God bless.

The people who take it so personally are thin-skinned. Eventually, after being here so long, wisen- and toughen-up and learn that some people are asking loaded questions and are looking for an argument. I took it very personally at first, then realized that some people are just jerks and are *trying* to get a rise out of other people. Then again, some people are just @ssholes. I learned very quickly to completely skip some questions that I KNEW were baited, and to completely ignore some questions, even after reading them. When I occasionally get an answer to a question that I've asked that's ridiculous and the person is being stupid about it to give it a thumbs down and move on. Chances are, the people that get truly offended by it are either new or just really sensitive people.

Tell me about it! I asked a simular question not so long ago and still got some stuck up remarks. Doesn't bother me though as I'm probably never going to meet these people in my life but there is nothing wrong with simply being polite. I think that a small part of it is that people don't like to feel judged by someone who doesn't even know them.

Of course I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, after all, that's why we ask questions here, to get different views. The only thing I have a big problem with are the people that feel the only way to get their point across is with name calling and fowl language. It only shows how very immature they are.

I rarely take anything seriously and surely not this . I do like to mess with the ones that take it serious just to tweak them a little. For some reason I find this humorous . Maybe they need some fresh air . There is a whole big world just outside your window .

It sounds like you are taking things personally by asking this question. Otherwise you wouldn't be asking this question if you weren't bothered by being insulted so easily. Just an observation.

No...Your not right... There is no reason to be insulting. The reason people as a question is because they dont know the anwser. You dont have to be insulting, condenscending, etc when anwsering a question. If you know the anwser. Fine! But dont be nasty about it. If you can't say anything nice--Don't say anything at all. Especially if your being insulting!!

I so agree with you. This site is here to help not to criticize. I have been reported for abuse because I did not understand a question, been emailed telling me I was a b---- because I answered openly, without insults., and that I was trying to call the person "stupid" in a "sneaky" way, I am always very direct.

i think you are so right people take things like your shooting them out when your trying to answer their question it may not be the answer they want to hear if they want to hear a lie then ask someone you know they try to make you feel better other then tell you the truth and what you need to hear so i am glad someone finally said something so thank you

some people are sensitive and over reacted when they read something. We can't avoid this kind of personality specially when they have problems or pressured.
not all people are broadminded.Every individual has each own differences and different personality. The best thing we could do is to understand them or perhaps encourage them to be open minded.
