Merry Meet! I am NOT wiccan. I am solitaire. (to say 'wiccan' to me, personally, is 'new age'; i have nothing against the wiccan 'religion', but i am a christian pagan who follows her own 'path' incorporating all religions into my craft...i practice the 'old ways', "granny magic" so to speak. I have always been drawn to the 'phenomena, but a very long time ago i found an author who helped me, as a solitaire, understand things better and where it was i wanted to go. Her name is Sarah Lydon Morrision and u would be able to find her publications at the wellknown bookstores in the occult section.
Remember a few very important things: Knowledge is power!
Research all u can and do NOT, i repeat, do NOT 'mess' with the "unknown"! In the craft u r dealing with energies and forces that we can only comprehend to a degree and if anything goes awry there can be great ramifacations! I tell you this not to frighten you, but as words of wisdom. Nothing should be done for personal gain or harm to anyone or anything! Have great respect for the universe and she will respect u back. Be wary, have faith & patience! It is a life-long process!
Blessed be!

Try to find all the Scott Cunningham books you can. They explain things pretty simply. My favorites when I was first starting out were;
"The Truth About Witchcraft Today"
"Wicca"
"Living Wicca"
Look in the reference sources in the back of his books for a list of other authors that are good as well. Always keep true to your own beliefs and not blindly follow everything you read. There are alot of wonderful authors out there but there is alot of crap too. I'd stay away from the author Silver Ravenwolf until I had the basics down pat. Her stuff is interesting but she needs to be read by people who have a basic understanding. Visit sites like www.witchvox.com for interesting reading on what is happening in the world with Wiccans and pagans in general. Good Luck!

I don't know where you live but always remember the Wheel of the Year is always opposite ---eg ---Samhain (sow-en) is May1st in the southern hemisphere and Oct 31st in the northern hemisphere.. This is a Greater Sabbat there are 3 more Imolg (Feast of Bride) Aug 2nd , Sth hem.. Feb 2nd nth hem... Beltane Oct 31st sth hem .. May 1st Nth hem and Llughnassad ( Loo-nassar) Feb 2nd sth hem... Aug 2nd Nth hem.... These are the 4 Greater Sabbats , the 4 lesser Sabbats are the summer and winter solstices and the spring and the autumn equinoxes.. Books by Scott Cunningham , Raymond Buckland Stewart& Janet Farrar and Grimassi to mention but a few would be handy reference... Welcome Blessed Be

You can check out the Witches of the World section at Witchvox:
http://www.witchvox.com/xvn.html
to find other Wiccans in your area. The best way to figure some of this stuff out is to actually get in there with fellow Wiccans and start doing rituals.
Good luck on your path.

Read, read, read, read, and then read some more.
Get books. Cunningham, Buckland, Adler, Starhawk. Stay away from Silver Ravenwolf.
Find a group near you to learn from in person. http://www.witchvox.com for their networking information.
Find an online community where you can talk to people. Google "wiccan forums" and "pagan forums" to find bunches of groups out there to see which one(s) you feel comfortable in and can learn from.
There isn't a "Poof! I'm a Wiccan!" instant-conversion button. It's a journey, not simply a destination.

Just read up on it and find a circle for yourself. If you know any on else in your area that is wiccan ask them. Also they have a wiccan book for dummies that is the easiest to get you started.

You might want to be careful about being "open to it all". Some wiccans are very nasty, sadistic people and not all supernatural entities are sweetness and light, either.
Just a word of warning.
