We like to think so, but better is subjective.
If we truly respected nature as a world culture there would be no test-tube babies. Suburbs would also not exist and everyone would either live in the big scary cities or the horrible dirty farm. Death of humans from communicable diseases and starvation would occur more often because it would be immoral to destroy habitats or use poisonous chemicals that may be dangerous to other species for the sake of human kind. The eco-system would come first, before human life.
It would involve placing one morality that's annoying to many with another morality that's annoying to everyone else.

Maybe. Honestly, it depends on how it's done. At one end of the spectrum, there's dumping toxic chemicals into folks' drinking water, at the other end, there's blowing up logging equipment. Somewhere in between, there's a happy medium where we can take care of what we've got while still getting raw materials for us to use. The difficulty comes in getting people to take a longer view on things than the fixation on what's easiest/cheapest for *right now*.
But that viewpoint really has little to do with religion, and more to do with common sense.

yes because paganism is an earthbound religion and believes in keeping the earth purified and buddhists and taoists and certain religions although they are not paganistic teach people to preserve the earth so if those types of religion were the majority then maybe the earth would be ten times cleaner then what it is

No, because people are all hypocrites no matter what religion they are. In India and Japan they deify nature but that still doesn't keep them from polluting their country on their workdays.
