Monoculture:

cheap to grow...less equipment needed
farmer only has to be an expert on one crop.


more soil degradation since plants have same nutrient demands
more risk of pathogen/insects, thus more sprayining is needed.

Benefits would be ease of harvest, a mostly identical second generation from the seeds, and uniformity of product fruits.

Risks are susceptibility to pests and viruses as well as weaker generations due to a lack of genetic diversity in the population.
