Lexus was created by Toyota's marketing dept. less than 20 years ago. It has no heritage and makes bland cars. Sitting inside one doesn't exactly accelerate your pulse nor does driving one trigger any pleasure behind the wheel...

any luxury car fascinates car buyers.Toyota's themselves are good, durable cars so you could imagine how good the luxury versions of them are.i had a Lexus for 5 months(a 2004 LS)and it was magnificent.i got into an accident that involved a 18 wheeler and 3 other cars with it so it got totaled.its safe too because im still here to talk about it.

Same reason why people are fascinated with BMW's and Mercedes. They are known to be expensive and give off a sense of wealth to the people who see you drive it. We all know its the truth and the role pop culture has played on young ones. Cars, Clothes, Money and ... You get the idea. I mean if the small gas friendly cars such as Toyota Prius, Nissan Versa, Honda Fit all work efficiently, why don't the young money-deprived college kids such as myself drive one? It's all about the perceived image that pop culture has played a role upon building up useless possessions.

Although BMW's and Mercedes are considered a step above, Lexus is more affordable but still gives off the sense of luxury that everyone desires but also the sense of reliability that Toyota gives. Why you think people still think Hyundai's are still considered crap? It doesnt mean that they necessarily are but thats how some people view it as. Everybody has their own opinion and tastes, just because you dislike doesnt mean others will, not everyone favors one certain company.

Americans are all about quality, looks, and the all-important price. That's why Lexus sells so well in the US. You can get a fully equipped LS for $15k less than a base model MB S-Class. In Europe, however, they are concerned with heritage and performance. They don't care if the car looks good, it has to have a good reputation, which I think Lexus is earning. Especially in Europe. The Lexus LS 460 was named Germany's car of the year.

Well the main reason being that lexus sounds luxury.
the main thing is the name, apart from the name the cars are very well marketed, checkout the lexus ad's they are great.

the kind of features they boast about like auto parking power window tints etc.

when buying a used car with a budget of 3k i considered a lexus es300 man it was awesome, for 3k i was getting a luxury car with amazing interiors and top notch luxury it was gr8.

they have high resale value and yes even the ratings say
1. lexus 2. bmw.
the american cars are no where close to these imports

People that buy Lexus demand perfection and luxury in doses that a typical luxury car buyer does not. A person that buys a BMW or Mercedes is looking for prestige, luxury, performance; a jack of all trades so to speak. A person who buys a Lexus demands luxury, value, quietness, smoothness; basically and intrusion free driving experience. I work for the company and many of the customers will have a fit if there is any creak or rattle anywhere in the vehicle. The people who buy Lexus' enjoy a luxury oriented driving experience and are willing to sacrifice a certain bit of driving excitement and performance.

You are an idiot. You either: 1. Think Cadillacs, BMW's, and Mercedes and good simply because they are a STATUS SYMBOL and you feel rich in them, or 2. Have never driven an IS300 with a standard transmission around hills and sharp curves on an empty country road. Lexus cars are perfection - not snobby names.

Probably because they never hear of any recalls, because it's never on the front page like the big 3. They keep their recalls hush hush, or if they are exposed, it's in the back of the business section. There needs to be some sort of class action lawsuit to expose their recalls, and they don't take the initiative to inform their "loyal customers" about them, either. Due to this nonsense and special agendas by the Detroit media, big 3 automakers have a bad reputation. Did you notice that the 4 million recalls Toyota has for oil sludge didn't make any headlines? What's up with that?

Because the are great luxury cars. Compared to the over engineered, overpriced euro-trash and absolute junk that Detroit wants to pass off as luxury, the choice is obvious.
