My kitten is 8 weeks and a housecat. I have bought her a gorgeous diamonte pink collar and wondered if I can put this on her now? Do they have to be a certain size to wear a collar as she is really teeny?

Thanks

I would think she is still a little small for a diamante collar as it is probably a bit stiff. I would recommend getting her a really soft collar for the time being to get her used to having something around her neck, and then when she gets to to six months or so swap it for the pretty one.

well, ur lucky 'cause she's young and yu can train her to wear collars. Mine is 2 years old but I put a collar on her all the same although she's a housecat too.
There's no reason for that but I'm trying that to see what would happen.
You can put the collar on her but always leave a thumb space between the collar and her neck so she wouldn't suffocate.
good luck
im me if u have more Q.s

You can put it on her now; tighten it as far as it will go, or so that you can slide your finger comfortably between the collar & her neck (without pulling the collar against the other side of her neck). Whichever is looser. Make sure the collar you got is a safety collar, that way if she gets hung up she will be able to get free.

Check the fit every 4-5 days or so! Kittens grow very quickly and the collar will get tight on her faster than you think!

I wouldn't put a collar on a kitten. There is just too much opportunity for a lively kitten to get "hung up" on it, even in a house. If you are not there all the time she could definitely have a tragic accident and even if you are there it doesn't take long for a kitten to strangle from a collar. She might enjoy playing with the collar and I wouldn't put it on her.

I've had a kitten from him being 8 weeks old, and it's too young for a collar, if it's a house cat anyway she shouldn't need one yet. My kitten has just been neutered and I bought him one when he came home. He is 6 months old and not been outdoors yet, he won't go out in this cold weather. He tried to get it off but soon got fed up trying.

i've got two cats i put collars on em at around 20 weeks, but the only reason they wear a collar is because they go outside (flea collar & bell to scare prey away).

i think if they were house cats i wouldnt bother with a collar, does your cat really want 1 or do u thinkit'll look nice?

I grew up with cats all my life. You are safe putting a collar on her now, as long as it isn't super heavy. Make sure you can fit a finger in between her neck and her collar, however too loose and she could catch it on something. Hopefully this was helpful.

You can put it on her now. Just watch her for the first couple of weeks to make sure she doesn't get hung up on anything. Remember she may really dislike it for a while. With an indoor cat, you don't need to put a collar on them....my male hated it so much, we never bothered trying to get him used to one.
