I recently started haveing claf pain in my left leg...I havn't done anything that I can recall that would have caused this.My leg is also falling asleep very easily and quickly.I herd that a random onset of calf pain could mean a blood clot.I am planning to go to the Dr.,but im just curious as to why this is happening....Its usually durring the day...I dont know if there is any connection but for years I have had severe shoulder pain in my left shoulder could this be related? Thanks for you help!

wow! your definitely on the right track going to see a doctor-pinched nerve? clot? do you take birth control pills-I have read they can be linked to clots... Make sure your doctor is well-informed when you go to see him/her-your lifestyle including medical background and current lifestyle need to be addressed. Take care.

Signs of a bloot clot, or DVT, in the calf include pain (especially with passive flexion of the foot), redness/extra warmth of the calf, and swelling. If you have these signs, follow up for emergent care immediately. If your leg is falling asleep, this could be either due to radiculopathy (irritation of the nerve as is exits off the spinal cord) or other problems such as posterior compartment syndrome...either way, time to see the doc. I doubt your shoulder pain is related, but without knowing more it is hard to tell.
