Technically no.

Peanuts are classified as 'legumes' ie. the same as peas. They are NOT 'nuts' in a strict sense.

The warning is on the packet because there are people who are allergic to nuts that will buy and eat the nuts. TESCO are trying to save on any future law suits by giving the warning and therefore opting out of blame from the idiots.

it's the madness of our modern world. if u look, most products that clearly contain nuts, also carry that same warning. and it's the same for things like egg too... i guess that these companies like to make 100% sure that they're not gonna get their a*ses sued if someone drops dead after eating their produce.

Its madness. If you buy a coffee from McDonald's you have a warning saying 'Be careful I'm hot'. Also I bought a paint stripper air gun thing and it had a label on it saying 'Do not use as a hair dryer'. Bacterial/bleach house cleaning wipes 'Are not for use on babies'

Maybe there are some very stupid people out there that need these instructions but if they are that stupid do you think they can read them?

I imagine its too stop them being involved in a lawsuit if someone with a nut allergy is stupid enough to eat them. at least if they have the warning on there, they cant be sued by some desperate person claiming there was no warning.
Its a sad world we live in.

It's to cover themselves in case anyone with a nut allergy is daft enough to eat them and then tries to sue.

I saw the washing label on a pet bed once, it said,
"Remove pet first"!!

Stating the obvious to some of us but........
