Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a tattoo. It is a personal choice, and people need to lay off the judgment of tattoos.
Judge not lest ye be judged.
Yes getting a tattoo can kinda hurt, it's not a major pain, but it stings. If you care for it properly, and get it done in a clean environment by a pro you should have no issues.
Good luck and enjoy your tat!

FIRST , Let Me Say You Will Not Get A STD Or Anything Else
When You Get A Tattoo Done By A Tattoo Shop.
All The Equipment Is Clean And They Do Not Use The Neddles
Twice. You Are Not Going To Get And Infection From The Tattoo Unless You Do Not Take Care Of It. There Is Very, Very Little Pain If Any With A Tattoo That Is Done With A Real Tattoo Gun.
All These People That Are Telling You About Pain And Infection DO NOT KNOW What They Are Talking About.
This Is Not The Old Days Of Tattooing When People Made Home Made Tattoo Guns.
Today Tattoos Are Safe. In Most States In The USA , A Tattoo Shop Has To Get A License To Be In The Tattooing Business.
The State Board Of Health Does Check Up On Tattoo Shops They Give A License To.
So, I Would Say That TATTOO's Are Safe Today......
I Should Know, At Last Count I Have 65 Tattoos......
I Did Not Get Sick Or Get An Infection From Any Of Them.....
So Please Do Not Listen To All Those People That Do Not Know What They Are Talking About When It Comes To TATTOOs
Just Start Off With Something You Know You Are Going To Like.
Remember, If You Change Your Mind, They Do Not Wash Off !!!!
Good Luck With Your First Tattoo.. It Would Be Fun To Show It Off To All Your Friends...........

There is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo if you are legal to get it and have put thought into it. Some of the consequences are that you might not like it later on but that is part of the risk of getting on. A tattoo is an open wound so yes infection is possible but not likely if it is done well, the shop is clean and you take care of it properly. If you want one put some thought in to it first and make sure you really want it. I would suggest you don't get a spouse or lovers name just in case and then you aren't left with a name unless you pay thousands of dollars to get it removed.
Aids is blood mixing ... you have a higher chance of getting aids from a bad batch of blood from the blood bank than you do a tattoo. Practicing procedures have been redesigned and are much better now.
18 is the legal age to get a tattoo if the shop goes by the law. What does religion have to do with tattoos? People think that Christians can't get them but anyone can in time if they want one.

Tattoos are permanent. A good thing to do would be to plan out exactly what you want as a tattoo right now, write it down, draw it out, something like that. Be as explicit as you can and then put it somewhere safe and come back and look at it 5 years from now and ask yourself if you'd still like that permanently coloured on your skin. I used to think that a snake wrapped around a dagger or a skull or something like that would be the best tattoo ever, and now I realise just how ridiculous that would look on me.
As for the risk of infection, yes it is possible. There was a big problem not too long ago with tattoo artists using unclean needles and spreading aroung Hep C and HIV, although this problem has been mostly fixed with changes in practice. Despite this, you are still driving a needle through your skin, so the chance of getting a bacterial infection is reasonably high, so if you do decide to get a tattoo, you need to take good care of your skin.

Just make sure that you are getting the tattoo for all the right reasons. Don't get one just to make another person mad or because everyone else it getting one. I just got my first tattoo a week ago and I love it. Personally I don't think that there is anything wrong in getting a tattoo. Again it comes down to a personal choice. Think about it, check out the tattoo shop before hand, and really think about the design and the meaning behind the tattoo. I got a long stem rose on my leg. The colors represent my mom my boys and my daughter. I love it and have no regrets getting it. Good luck in what ever you end up doing.

you have to be 18 to get a tattoo. in some states 16 with a parent's consent.
i don't think there is anything wrong with getting a tattoo and i AM a christian. it all just depends on personal choice. there can be consequences to having a tattoo. there are societal stigma to some tattoos and some closed minded people consider people with tattoos to be trashy but that's not really my concern. i love my tattoos and couldn't imagine not having them. it is possible to get an infection from a tattoo if the artist does not use sterile equipment or if you don't care for the tattoo properly afterward.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a tattoo...but just make sure that it is something that you really want..cause it will be with you for a long long time...getting something that you don't like and are stuck with would be the only consequence that i can think of...and as long as you keep it clean and use the A & D ointment there should be no infection....But do your research ....visit the tattoo shop..make sure that it is clean and that their board of health certificate is up to date and that they passed the inspection. And make sure that when they get the needle out that it is wrapped in plastic and that the tattoo area is clean and that the artist washed his hands and uses gloves when tattooing....the place i go to wraps everything in plastic before he tattoo's. the counter, the machine, the stool that you rest your arm on....ect. Do your research and don't be scared to ask questions...

If you're talking Leviticus, I think there are also prohibitions against using wool blankets, shaving your beard (if a man), and some kind of food restriction which I forget. It's also Old Testament, which a lot of Xians don't place as much importance on. You mention some of those who have a clue in this regard. But you know what? In this day and age, and especially in the "land of freedom" America says it is, anyone that has a problem pretty much has to admit it's purely opinion on a social trend. Yeah, there can be repercussions in dealing with the ignorant, but if we let that run our lives then women will not be allowed to drive or vote, only land-owning white males will be able to do, well... anything... and we'll have a host of bass-ackwards problems that any real society is supposed to have gotten past by now.

There is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo. The consequences can be getting one you don't like, a reaction to the ink(I've never heard of it happening, but that doesn't mean it hasn't before), infection. You could get an infection if you go to an artist that does not use sterile equipment, or sterilise his work surfaces, chairs, and what not.
