Okay, first I want to clarify that the previous post about "unlimited downloads for $18" is true .. but it means you are purchasing the pro version of the program, rather than using the free program .. you are NOT purchasing legal rights to download the music!
You can download "free" mp3's using any P2P or torrent filesharing program. HOWEVER, doing so is illegal, as it is copyrighted material.
There are websites where you can download truly free mp3's, sometimes it's a sample song, sometimes it's a new and upcoming artist, or independent artist, who have a selection of their work available for free download, and these are legal becuase you have the permission of the copyright holder.

Its called LimeWire. Its great becuase you can download for free or pay $18 a year for unlimited downloads. Check them out!
