The word Semite means a speaker of a Semitic language -- Aramaic, Arabic, etc., but in recent usage has come to denote hatred for Jews.
There has been hatred of Jews for more than 2500 years because Jews have remained separate from those who worship idols and false gods as God commanded when He told them they were to be His "holy people." The word holy means separate/apart.
BTW, the word Israel has two meanings. One meaning is for the land of Israel, and the other is the people, Israel. The Tanach (Old Testament) is the story of Israel and their relationship with God.

About 2000 years ago. Though it may have been even earlier. I think the Egyptians hated the Semites a few thousand years before that. Every race hated the other back then and things haven't really changed.

The word race in relationship to people is relatively new. Before that you were simply called the people of .....................
As to when did people start hating Semitic people? Use the OT as your guide. When did whole towns and cities get put to the torch and their people killed or enslaved by the followers of Moses? That sort of thing tends to spawn hatred. Others picked up on the hate because it was a convenient excuse.
