Terrorists come from many different religion, region, countries, nationality, colors creeds etc etc, but since you added the word Jihad, then you must be asking about the Muslim terrorists. In their case, In a way they do it for their religion, but not in the same way the non Muslims think of it!

Muslims believe Jihad is the right for every Muslim. The right to fight and strive for their religion. It is their right to die, kill or be killed for the sake of their religion. No Muslim can be sure that they can enter Heaven, except when it comes to Jihad. That is the only way they can be sure that they will go to Heaven if they died for their religion, and these days killing non Muslims who are against Muslims and Islam is a better way to make sure that they will enter Heaven.

Do they kill out of anger and revenge!!
anger brings out revenge, and revenge brings out anger. So, in a way they are one and the same. If a person believes they are doing it for their religion to protect it from outsider, then that qualifies for the cause.

In Islam it is a major sin to kill the innocent. but, if a person feels justify to do what they want to protect their faith, then those same people who are innocent, can be justified as being guilty in offend their religion, and to them it become just to be attacked.
In Israel for example, all the Jewish people are guilty as sin in their books, and hence none of them are innocent. Therefore, the rule that a Muslim should not kill any innocent people goes out of the window.
If a person wants something hard enough, anything can be justified and or expainled, anything. You got to also note, that although many Muslims say that Jihad is the right of every Muslim, not all of them will kill others. You can find radicals in any religion.

If you look at the whole picture, it is more than that. Jihad in their beliefs is to secure their after life, and while they are still alive! to create a whole new world, to conqure the whole world under their laws and their rules. Jihad is the tool, and the world is the purpose. The radical would say we are doing it for our religion, and the not radical, stand on the side line watching, and when they get what they want. They will say, Mashallah, and praise to Allah!

The Human being is complex, it is hard to pin point why a person do what they do, for certainty! and the quest is still on.

ADD,

Now this is scary. Accoding to this Imam, the mere fact a person is not Muslims, that makes that person guilty, and hence is legally all right to be attacked or killed. Also, he said, he will always stand with other Muslims, even if they were the oppressed or the Oppressor.

With that kind of thinking, all non Muslims are doomed, guilty or not, all are guilty in their eyes!
The scary part of this is the radical speak out what they think, and the moderate just stay on the side line and does not condemn such thinking which many times leads to violent actions. Mind you that those action are being caried out against the Non Muslims and the Muslims one and alike. If you are not with them, then you are against them. Muslim or not.
It is a fact that more Muslims are being killed by other Muslims, and that doesn't bother some them ... much!

They wear white to say they want to do jihad, then the guy in the big black turban calls them to do a jihad for the cause of Allah or Islam.

So it starts out feeling anger or revenge, like if a Christian leader said that Islam is violent. So, they wear white. Then if an Islamic leader issues the word to kill a nun, or something, one might go out and do it. Then it is doing it for Allah/ Islam (their religion).

If one is called to suicide bomb, even if the Islamic leader is wrong, the suicide bomber is told he/she receives heaven. That the Islamic leader is judged by God. If one disobeys the Islamic leader, they get hell. So there is a fear factor of hell also.

Have you noticed that most terrorists come from impoverished countries where getting ahead in life is next to impossible for the lowest classes of people? The boss terrorists take advantage of that and dupe the poor into thinking that in the next life, things will be so much better if they kill lots of people in the present life. Can you see that guys like Osama Bin Ladin don't blow themselves up? I wonder why?

No, that is too pat an answer.

Most Jihadists have had their thinking warped somewhere along the line. This is true from the home grown bomber of Irish extraction who has become Muslim and joins a cel. This is true of the first generations of Muslim families settled in the west who dream dreams of the hell their parents left behind to give them a better life. This is true of the starving young man raised in war and refugee camps who has nothing. This is true of the young men of wealth who are warped to believe violence is the way to serve Allah.

These men are NOT taught that jihad is the international struggle.
Every time a person on a diet refuses themselves a treat they want, that is their personal jihad. An internal struggle for what you know is right. You see someone drop $20 on the floor. You are almost broke and that person looks rich. Should you keep it or return it? That is a personal jihad.

Not to be too jaded, but we all know thre are some pretty nasty people out there. People in positions of great power. Illuminati and their puppet governments. These people will go to any means to achieve their goals. Such young men and women as mentioned above are easy prey and easily motivated if you know how to do it. These people are highly skilled at this.

So, some kill out of anger. Some kill out of revenge. Some kill out of "righteous indignation". Some kill because the Cheerios tell them too. It is as individual as the men themselves.

They kill everyone including many other Muslims.

It is strictly forbidden in the Koran to shed the blood of another Muslim. Or women and children and Elders. Never.

The virgins in paradise is a factor but not nearly as much as you might think. Most do it for Allah alone.

They are just that twisted and betrayed by their superiors.

If Islam is as twisted and evil as it is portrayed in media, why are so many people of the West, especially North America, taking their Shahada?

They do so because Islam is a violent and backward religion that needs to be modernized. It's followers are generally unintelligent such as crying and makin a fuss about those cartoons, whilst printin evil anti-jewish cartoons themselves.

Muslims are just cry-baby hypocrites

They kill because they falsely believe the Qur'an justifies terrorism.

Jihad means personal struggle, not holy war. Stop generalizing.
