experiments on animals yet there has hardly been a peep about the utter cruely of factory farming. If, therefore, foxes were edible would we be so against fox hunting?

Fox hunting was targeted for political (Socialist) reasons, since the ban the rate of killing has increased. It has done nothing for the welfare of individual foxes and is in effect ecological vandalism that will cause lasting damage to the environment.
At the end of the day the urban population doesn't care about life in the country so long as their food prices are ridiculously low.
It is the economics of factory farming and the effects of the Common Agricultural Policy that keeps that practice in use.
Meat is now the same price per weight as lettuce, this situation is insane.
Labour's utter failiure to even understand rural life was crystal clear during Foot and Mouth. I live in dread that it happens again with bird flu.

I have always been against factory farming. I have been a vegetarian for over a decade because I hate factory farming and the way animals are slaughtered mechanically. Being kept in poor conditions and then having the sterile soulless death of a machine putting a metal bolt through the skull would be hell.

On the other hand I am for bull fighting because the bulls are kept in excellent conditions and always go down fighting. I think there are better ways of killing foxes than fox hunting, but there are probably worse ways too.
Anyway that is my opinion.

i'm not against fox hunting, but against poor standards of living, as it were, for farm animals. It is just that too many people do not care where their food comes from, as long as it is edible, and cheap. Cheap is what they want, and with battery farming, they get it.

If foxes were edible they would be farmed and slaughtered humanely (or as humanely as slaughtering can be). Fox hunting is organised cruelty and should be treated in the same way as bear baiting, **** fighting, dog fighting and bull fighting.

Remember that foxhounds were bred to run slowly in order to prolong the chase.

General public are largely ignorant about factory farming (often through choice). They simply don't want to know the truth even if they suspect it.

The majority of consumers are only concerned about getting the cheapest prices for their food, quality & ethics don't come into it.

The corporations involved in factory farming are also notoriously secretive about their industry (not surprisingly), wheras animal experimantation & fox hunting often make headline news.

People are only against fox hunting because they see them as pretty, cuddly little creatures, which they're not really. If the dogs were chasing rats, no one would give a damn. It's all uneducated hypocrisy. Plus the fact that they'd all start whining when the cost of meat went through the roof because of the additional cost of more ethical methods of production.

Hunting foxes has got nothing to do with "sport" "Hunting" or my favourite excuse "pest control".

It is purely about rich, spoilt, snobs who think they are above the law and have a god given right to slaughter a defenceless animal with a pack of blood thirsty dogs and brand it "sport".

Also, if you understood anything about the situation in the UK, you may be shocked to hear that people are actually against factory farming.
