The second commandment, refers to, and you will find this throughout the Old Testament, that pagans would make statues of their gods because they had to be able to see who they were worshipping. And eventually, all of their focus and worship was on that statue and not God. God wants us to worship in Spirit and in truth!

Good question, Ally! It's perfectly OK for us to imitate people we admire. When God says don't make yourself a graven image, He just means don't make an artificial object for yourselves to worship. In other words, we must never worship any man-made picture or thing. For example, when Moses was up on the mountain receiving the ten Commandments from God, God saw the Israelites doing exactly that: they had made a calf statue out of gold and they were worshipping it instead of God. Boy, was God mad! He wanted to destroy them all, but Moses pleaded with Him to be merciful.

It means not to make a graven image, or any likeness(copies) of any thing that is in heaven above, (stars, moon, son, angels, etc) or that is in the earth beneath (water, dirt, worms, rocks, grubs, etc) ot that is in the water under the earth. You are not to bow to them, or serve them. Meaning worship them, like even the pictures that we have of Jesus, or statues, etc..it really isnt the real Jesus anyways. Neither is the Lords Supper those that lived then, it is simply a depiction, angels knick knacks, etc. All are simply depictions, dont worship them, pray to them, etc... If you dress and act like someone else your looking at the wrong commandment. This would fall under coveting , which would be the tenth commandment. Exodus 20 gives those.
Out of pure curiosity why would you want to act like anyone else, or dress like them ? You do not have your own styles or own ideas ? Do you want to feel closer to this Kari ?
Anything that comes before God in your life, is sin, according to the Holy Bible.
I think it is more against yourself than it is God. I think that you should search out for yourself, what do you like, enjoy, etc. How do you want to act , etc. You should think for yourself. There is nothing wrong with dressing alike though depending on the circumstances (twins, their parents do that to them) > I am just concerned that you dont search out your own personal tastes. Enjoy yourself and your own mind, gie it a shot.

A graven image is an idol. A carved image that one does obeisance to. It could be an image of Jesus or Mother Mary. God said that God doesn't give His Glory to images. The images fall quite short in giving God justice.

Wether you like someones style of dress & dress that way, would be if you are convicted in you conscience if its proper or not.

Some people do idolize a public figure at times. They worship this public figure and choose this person above God. Then that person could be an idol in ones life. God said to not have any other gods before him. A god could be anything we trust/ love more than the LORD God.

Some pray to New Testament Saints before praying to Jesus. This is wrong. We are to pray to Jesus, confessing Jesus Christ our Lord & Savior with heart faith in His Resurrection... Jesus is the intermediary between God and man.

Jesus made it simple, the 1st commandmant is to Love the Lord thy God will all your heart mind soul & strength. 2nd, Love others as yourself.

What this means is no pictures of any thing of a divine nature. Which could mean every single person that has a picture of Jesus or an angel (Because it does say of anything in heaven or on earth) is breaking this commandment.
It could also mean any picture of Mary is a violation of this command. Additionally all statues or figures would be a violation of this command. In fact the cross itself could be viewed as breaking this commandment. After all the cross is a graven image of something of earth.

This has two meanings. One is to not make any image to worship instead of God. The other is not to make an image of God to worship. He is Spirit and must be worshiped in spirit.

Both of the Scriptures explains that we should not make any "graven images" or idols. Graven images and idols are objects that are used to worship God. Those objects could be things such as necklaces and bracelets with Jesus Christ on a cross, some people worship Jesus Christ as a god or Mary. Others may use magic, worship statues that they call god(s) or goddess. Jehovah God warns us about these graven images and idols. In those two Scriptures He tells us not to make anything like that to worship Him. Whether it may any form in the heavens such as angels people use that as a form of worship. Or if it's earth beneath. This is how the book of Psalms explains the state of idols. " Their idols are silver and gold, The work of the hands of earthling man. (5) A mouth they have, but they cannot speak; Eyes they have, but they cannot see; (6) Ears they have, but they cannot hear. A nose they have, but they cannot smell.(7) Hands are theirs, but they cannot feel. Feet are theirs, but they cannot walk; They utter no sound with their throat. (8) Those making them will become just like them, All those who are trusting in them."-Psalms 115:4-8 Psalms describe idols cannot do anything. God isn't dwelling on earth. He is dwelling in the heavens. " But our God is in the heavens."-Psalms 115:3 Worhsip to Jehoavh God goes to Jehovah God only. Worship to God does not go to idols.

It means that you cannot worship a statue, or a picture, as if it were God. No material object can contain spiritual power. God resides in the human heart, if you love him, and nowhere else in nature.

It means to not make idols of any kind, statues or paintings or drawings, and such, or worship them in any way. God deserves all of the worship given. God bless you.

Don't make or worship idols; as in statues, figurines, pictures, or any replication of any thing. This also means not to idolize any thing above God; as in money, status, career, materialism, fashion, or any thing that you would place above God and worship. God comes first.
